Husky Center Line TS Weight Distribution Hitch Review

I purchased travel trailer in early 2019 and the RV dealership sold me a weight distribution hitch. Two months later (3 camping trips), my weight distribution hitch broke. I decided to go with a different brand of weight distribution hitch for my replacement, so below is my real life Husky Center Line TS Weight Distribution Hitch Review.

As I mentioned previously, the focus of this blog is to help first-time RV buyers. One way I do this is by writing reviews about products that I actually use and like, I generally don’t spend any time on products I’ve had a bad experience with. Sometimes I have to buy several brands of a particular product until I find one I like, which is time consuming and expensive, so hopefully I help save you valuable time and money by sharing with you products that work well for me and my family.

Background

As I mentioned, on my third camping trip my original weight distribution hitch broke. I was making a circular turn over a grass area and I heard a loud pop. I got out of my SUV and below is what I saw. The spring arm had completely come out of the sway control bracket. The sway control bracket was damaged, it should be perpendicular to the trailer frame, but it was now bent at an angle.

My Options

The RV dealership service manager said he could replace it with the same brand or he could give me a brand that he hasn’t sold to any of his customers yet. He said the other brand appears to be of more heavy duty construction, but he doesn’t know how it will perform. I went with the heavy duty untested weight distribution hitch: Husky 32218 Center Line TS with Spring Bars. See my pictures below.

My Thoughts

I’ve towed my trailer using the Husky 32218 Center Line TS weight distribution system on 17 camping trips since I purchased it and it has performed with no issues. And, I even recreated the circular turn on the same grass area that broke my previous weigh distribution hitch and the Husky system had no problems.

The manufacturer states “None Of The Noise Problems Other WD/Sway Products Have – It’s Quiet.” But, when I make turns, it does make creaking sounds. I asked the service manager if this is normal, he said yes because it’s a metal on metal situation. My original weight distribution hitch also made creaking sounds when I made turns.

So, I would highly recommend the Husky Center Line TS Weight Distribution Hitch without reservation. Below are links to purchase. There are different models with different tongue weight capacities, the model you buy will depend on the size and weight of your travel trailer. You should check with your RV dealership, your towing vehicle’s manual and your RV manual to verify what is appropriate for your situation. The model number I got was 32218, see first link below.

Accessories

Below are two types (coupler and hitch) of locks you’ll need for your weight distribution hitch. I purchased the Reese Towpower Gorilla Guard Coupler Lock to lock my coupler when I’m towing and when I’ve disconnected my tow vehicle from my travel trailer. Below is a link to purchase. I haven’t had any issues with it.

I also purchased two brands of hitch locks, one I purchased at the dealership and the other on Amazon. I’ve provided links to both below if you’d like to purchase.
